Meet Our Staff

Doug Mallers PT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Doug attended Indiana University's Physical Therapy Program where he graduated in 1992. Six years later, he received a post grad Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy from the Gulf Coast Graduate School of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy in Gulfport, MS.

Currently, he is a member of the American Academy Examination Board. He is also a faculty member for the Manual Therapy Institute where he instructs physical therapists in the practice of orthopaedic physical therapy. In his off hours, Doug enjoys sports and spending time with his wife and two boys.

Trenton Swoverland PT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Trenton attended Indiana University, graduating from the Physical Therapy program in 1992. Seven years later, he obtained his Board Certification in Orthopaedics when tested by the American Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. He continued his education by becoming a Certified Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapist in 2002 from North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapists.

As of 2005, he has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. He is a Clinical Fellowship Instructor with the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapist instructing physical therapists in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.

When Trenton is not at work, he is usually found with his wife and four children, at a sporting event, at the gym, or involved with church. He enjoys assisting or watching his children's extra-curricular activities.

Lisa Saxe, PT, DPT, MTC

Lisa joined the practice in 2007 and was made partner in 2013. She graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She earned her manual therapy certification (MTC) in 2004 from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and completed the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2012. In her off hours, Lisa loves spending time with her daughter Ellie and son Finn. Lisa is very involved in her children's activities, she enjoys watching Ellie compete in gymnastics and Finn play football. Lisa's other favorite pastimes are running, watching IU basketball, and the Green Bay Packers football.


Paula joined the practice in January of 2007. She graduated from The Chicago Medical School in 1988. She has been practicing orthopaedic physical therapy since that time. She completed her post-professional master's degree from the University of Indianapolis in 1997. She completed her manual therapy residency and Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2007 and completed her fellowship with the Ola Grimsby Institute in late 2008. Paula is certified in Vestibular Rehabilitation.  In her free time, Paula enjoys knitting, silversmithing, running and spending time with her husband.

Rebecca Merritt PT, DPT, MTC

Rebecca, a Fort Wayne native, joined the practice in Feb. 2009. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Coastal Carolina University in May 1999. She attended graduate school at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in December 2002. Rebecca also earned her Manual Therapy Certification (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine in January 2004. In her spare time, Rebecca loves spending time with her family and she stays busy and enjoys attending her daughter's and son's activities. She also enjoys running, riding roller coasters and traveling, especially somewhere with a beach.

Allison Loudenback, PT, DPT

Allison, a Ft Wayne native, joined the team in May 2017. She graduated from the University of Indianapolis in May 2017 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Allison is currently studying for her orthopaedic manual therapy certification through the Manual Therapy Institute. She enjoys traveling and spending time outside. Most of Allison's free time revolves around the 4 Fs: faith, family, friends and football.

Kristin Collins, PT, DPT, COMT

Kristin joined Mallers & Swoverland in 2015 as a staff physical therapist, but worked for the practice 10 years prior as a technician while attending the University of Saint Francis. There she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology while playing collegiate softball. Following graduation Kristin attended Indiana University on the IUPUI campus to pursue her Doctorate of Physical Therapy, which she completed in 2010.

Kristin has experience working in acute care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and skilled nursing facilities, but she has spent the majority of her career working in the outpatient orthopedic field. Kristin is a certified orthopedic manual therapist through Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars. Outside of work, Kristin loves spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys running outdoors, snowboarding, traveling, and working on the latest house project.

Nate Barr, PT, DPT

Nate is born and raised in Sacramento, California. He continued his educational and athletic pursuits at California State University, Sacramento, receiving his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology while playing on the men's soccer team. He continued his educational goals at the University of St. Augustine at the California campus, earning a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, before working in occupational medicine and later private practice physical therapy. Nate is involved in the Manual Therapy Institute Los Angeles cohort and is aspiring for completion in 2019. He enjoys going to church, playing soccer, and making dinner or adventuring through Fort Wayne with his wife Liz.

Liz Barr, PT, DPT

Liz, a Pittsburgh native, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Post graduate school she moved to Los Angeles, CA where she has since gained experience working in orthopaedic and vestibular physical therapy, teaches as an adjunct professor within the physical therapy department at Azusa Pacific University, and is a certified Pilates instructor. Liz is currently completing her orthopaedic manual therapy fellowship through the Manual Therapy Institute. In her free time she enjoys traveling, any outdoor activity/sport, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jackie Morris, Office Manager

Jackie graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Ball State University. She joined Mallers & Swoverland in September of 2004 and became the practice Office Manager in January 2015. Outside of the office, Jackie enjoys spending time with her fiancé & girls, running, participating in bible study at Pathway Community Church, and is actively involved in Serving Simply on Saturday nights.

Adrienne Urschel, Administrative Assistant

Adrienne is a Fort Wayne native, who graduated from Ivy Tech in 2007 with an Associate's degree in Medical Assisting. Adrienne has worked at Mallers & Swoverland since 2005 and is the administrative assistant at the SW clinic. She loves spending time with her husband, her dogs, Marley a goldendoodle & Lacey a cocker spaniel. She loves connecting with family and friends & doing adventurous things.

Judy Foust, Administrative Assistant

Judy is the administrative assistant at our Northeast clinic. She joined our team in June of 2015. Judy came to Mallers & Swoverland with previous experience working at a regional medical billing office, where she also trained employees in customer service. When she isn't working, Judy enjoys spending time with her husband and family, playing the violin, reading, and taking long walks.

Angela Ditaway, Administrative Assistant

Angela joined the practice in November 2015 at our North location. She has a strong work background in medical insurance and finance administration. She has an Associate of Applied Science degree in Office Administration from Ivy Tech Community College. Angela is a wife and mother of 3. In her pastime she enjoys reading, singing at church, spending time with her family & taking long family road trips.

Amanda Schortgen, Administrative Assistant

Amanda joined the team at Mallers & Swoverland in January of 2018, as one of the Administrative Assistants at the North Office. Amanda moved from Garrett to Ft. Wayne in 2007. She attended Ivy Tech. She enjoys time with her husband, telling jokes and her faith in God.

Sara Heinold, Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Sara joined the team at Mallers & Swoverland in February of 2019, after moving back to the Ft. Wayne area. Sara, a graduate of Homestead High School, grew up in Ft. Wayne but has resided in Valparaiso since graduating from Indiana University in 1990. She has a BA in Advertising with a minor in Studio Art, and has worked as the Marketing & Development Coordinator for The Caring Place domestic violence shelter prior to joining Mallers & Swoverland. In her free time, Sara enjoys yoga, sports, traveling and spending time with her three kids and family/friends. She is happy to be part of such a great group at M&S.
