Trenton Swoverland PT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT
Trenton attended Indiana University, graduating from the Physical Therapy program in 1992. Seven years later, he obtained his Board Certification in Orthopaedics when tested by the American Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. He continued his education by becoming a Certified Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapist in 2002 from North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapists.
As of 2005, he has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. He is a Clinical Fellowship Instructor with the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapist instructing physical therapists in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.
When Trenton is not at work, he is usually found with his wife and four children, at a sporting event, at the gym, or involved with church. He enjoys assisting or watching his children's extra-curricular activities.
Doug Mallers PT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Doug attended Indiana University's Physical Therapy Program where he graduated in 1992. Six years later, he received a post grad Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy from the Gulf Coast Graduate School of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy in Gulfport, MS.
Currently, he is a member of the American Academy Examination Board. He is also a faculty member for the Manual Therapy Institute where he instructs physical therapists in the practice of orthopaedic physical therapy. In his off hours, Doug enjoys sports and spending time with his wife and two boys.
Paula Noll PT, MHS, DPT, FAAOMPT
Paula joined the practice in January of 2007. She graduated from The Chicago Medical School in 1988. She has been practicing orthopaedic physical therapy since that time. She completed her post-professional master's degree from the University of Indianapolis in 1997. She completed her manual therapy residency and Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2007 and completed her fellowship with the Ola Grimsby Institute in late 2008. In her free time, Paula enjoys knitting, silversmithing, running and spending time with her husband.
Lisa Saxe, PT, MTC
Lisa joined the practice in June of 2007. She graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She earned her manual therapy certification (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2004. She is currently working toward her doctor of physical therapy degree through the University of St. Augustine. Outside the clinic, Lisa loves running and spending time with her husband and two children. Lisa is an avid Packers fan.
Rebecca Merritt PT, DPT, MTC
Rebecca, a Fort Wayne native, joined the practice in Feb. 2009. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Coastal Carolina University in May 1999. She attended graduate school at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in December 2002. Rebecca also obtained her Manual Therapy Certification (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine in January 2004. She has had additional training in Oncology and Lymphedema and enjoys treating people in this patient population in addition to her orthopaedic patients.
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and son, running, playing volleyball, working outside in the warmer months and traveling.
Gail Elliott, PT, MHS, OCS, CMPT
Gail has been a physical therapist since her graduation from Northwestern University in 1980. She has explored many avenues of physical therapy but enjoys orthopaedic physical therapy. She received her advanced masters in orthopaedic physical therapy in 1993, has completed the Gulf Coast Physical Therapy Institute Program in manual therapy and NAIOMPT (National Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy) coursework leading to a COMT (Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist) in 1995. She is currently working towards her post-graduate fellowship certificate with NAIOMPT.
Gail has two children, Daniel, a mechanical engineer working in Lafayette, and Matthew, a current student at IPFW studying business, and a lovely step-daughter in Phoenix. Gail and her husband Gary, a local businessman, enjoy RVing, traveling, and lying on a sunny beach almost anywhere.
PRN Therapists
Valerie Coolman PT, DScPT, CMPT, FAAOMPT
Valerie joined the practice in September of 2004. She completed her Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy and also her certification in orthopaedic manual therapy through the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. Valerie passed the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy's Level 3 & 4 Oral Practical Exams with distinction. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. Valerie loves spending time with her daughter, son and husband, who is a special education teacher and basketball coach.
Support Staff
Sue Zigler
Sue Zigler has been the office manager at Mallers & Swoverland since they opened their doors in 2002. She brought with her 15 years experience as a Billing Analyst/Coordinator and Human Resource Representative. A Fort Wayne native, Sue treasures her free time with her husband, 5 children and 8 grandchildren. She also loves to exercise, rollerblade, dance and take long walks.
Jackie Morris
Jackie started with the Mallers & Swoverland team in September of 2004 and is the administrative assistant for the North clinic. She graduated from Ball State University with a BS in Exercise Science. Jackie is a devoted mother to her daughter and enjoys attending all of her sporting events. In her free time, Jackie runs and competes yearly in the Indianapolis mini-marathon.
Stephanie Schmidt
Stephanie joined the Mallers & Swoverland team in May of 2011. She is the administrative assistant at the Southwest clinic. Stephanie attended IPFW and graduated with a BA in Organizational & Interpersonal Communication with a minor in Organizational Leadership and Supervision.
In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys reading, exercising and spending time with her husband and family.
Angie Miller
Angie has been with Mallers & Swoverland since 2006 and is the marketing/patient representative for both clinics. She studied Sociology and Psychology at IPFW. Watching her children's sporting events ranks high on her priority list as well as, running and competing in races, camping, watching GB Packer and Irish football, and spending time with family and friends.
Physical Therapy Tech
Jake Silveus
Jake has been with Mallers & Swoverland since January of 2009, as the physical therapy tech for the North clinic. He graduated from IPFW with a BS in Biology and is preparing to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy. Jake is an avid Chicago Bears fan, who also enjoys traveling, marine biology, soccer, kayaking, and anything outdoors.
Nicole Spaw
Nicole started in January of 2011 and is the tech at the South clinic. She attends the University of Saint Francis and will graduate in May 2012, as a physical therapy assistant. When not working or studying, Nicole loves being at the lake, spending time with friends and family, and watching the Colts.
Kelli Jones
Kelli started with the M & S team in August of 2011 and a tech at both locations. She is currently a senior at IPFW majoring in Psychology and Pre-Physical Therapy. Kelli will graduate in 2012 and hopes to continue on to obtain her doctorate in physical therapy. In her free time, Kelli enjoys working out, playing intramural volleyball and most importantly, spending time with her friends and family.
Dylan Herendeen
Dylan started as the physical therapy tech at the north location in August of 2011. He is a 2011 graduate of Churubusco High School and is attending IPFW, majoring in Athletic Training. Dylan finds time outside of work and school to work out, hang out with his friends and play basketball.
Maria Toskos
Maria has been with Mallers & Swoverland since September of 2006, as a tech at the North clinic. She graduated from IPFW with a BS in Elementary Education and is a 4th grade teacher at Bloomingdale Elementary. Maria is the chairperson for the yearly, Greekfest Olympic 5K. Maria is passionate about soccer and running and loves to spend time with her friends and family.
